The goal of this seminar is to provide police supervisors and managers with a comprehensive understanding of the goals, operations and products of contemporary criminal intelligence operations. In these days of enhanced awareness regarding the protection and preservation of constitutional and civil liberties, many agencies strive to develop and properly integrate a criminal intelligence capability into their policing strategy without the proper foundation of understanding. This 2-day seminar explores the legal framework for the appropriate gathering and maintenance of data regarding suspected criminals, extremists groups, street gangs, criminal enterprises and an assortment of emerging and evolving "police problems". Our curriculum is designed to reflect the strategies included in the National Criminal Intelligence Sharing Plan, in keeping with the vision of Intelligence-Led Policing and guidelines of the Criminal Intelligence Systems Operating Policies (28 CFR Part 23).
